It's Time for Chamber Magic!

Last Friday, my sister and I planned a night of surprises for our parents 30th Anniversary. We wanted to do something really special and out of the ordinary, so we turned to friends, family and the internet for suggestions. Keeping it a secret for the weeks before was nearly impossible and I almost spilled the beans several times, but when it came down to it, they really had no idea where the night would take them. I think that was our favorite part!

To get the night started, we told my parents we were headed into NYC. We didn't tell them the WHAT or WHERE until we had to start giving my dad directions. At that point, we let them know that the night would begin with a pre-fixe dinner at Noir NYC. My siser had found an awesome deal on GiltCity, at a brand new restaurant right near our "next stop" and we took advantage of the three course meal, which included wine for each of us! We didn't want to have my parents even think about opening their wallets, so the best approach was to have everything pre-planned and pre-paid. It made the night really awesome as my parents are always going above and beyond for us.

During the appetizers, we let my parents in on the rest of the evening. Thanks to the incredible suggestion of Kim, we bought tickets to see Chamber Magic, a show performed by magician Steve Cohen. After a delicious dinner, which for me included tuna tartar, chilean seabass, and a chunky chocolate cake (I have good taste, I know!), we walked over to the Waldorf Astoria where the show would take place.

Set in an elegant suite in the Waldorf Astoria residences, we sat in Steve Cohens' apartment and waited to have our minds read. And that he did! The show was incredible and the four of us, along with about 25 other guests watched in amazement. I won't give away too much, because I would seriously suggest that you all go see it for a special occasion too, but our mouths were dropped to the floor for almost the entire hour and a half show!

Of course, the night would not be complete without an encounter with a promotional product! When the magician asked that we each write down our favorite drink, he handed out branded metal twist pens from the Waldorf Astoria hotel. I won't tell you what happened next, but we had a great evening! My parents thanked us a million times and we truly felt that the night was a success! I wonder what we will plan for their 35th because this night will be really hard to beat!
