Life Is a Highway....

Every time I go to On The Border, my favorite chain Mexican restaurant, the same thing happens. I peruse the menu over my chips & salsa/ranch combo (Thanks to Rebecca for that wonderful invention) and I hem & I haw. The waiter arrives and inevitably, I always get a create your own combo with a cheese and onion enchilada and beef empanadas. I put the queso on my rice & I complain that there are too many onions in my enchilada. Every. Single. Time. To say that I'm a creature of habit would be an understatement. When I get comfortable with something, that's the way it is, but more importantly, that's the way it stays.

All that is about to change.

It's extremely difficult to say that one week from today, October 22, 2010, I will step down from my position of PR & Social Media Coordinator for Motivators. After nearly five years of being a Motivator, I will be leaving to pursue a new career opportunity in NYC. If anything in the world can be defined as bittersweet, it's this. While I'm so excited about new opportunities and possibilities in this next phase of my life, it also means that I'm leaving behind the greatest group of people that I have had the pleasure of working with.

To say that the team at Motivators is anything other than my family would be a lie. We've got some parental figures, as well as the siblings. We even have the wacky cousin at the reunion that you all make fun of because he only comes to family events because of the food. (Adam, seriously, I love you and I don't know what I'm going to do without being able to tell you go go gadget facebook . Don't ever stop loving cake.) The amount of laughs that I have shared with all of you is incomprehensible to me. In addition to laughing, we've all been through one of the hardest things that any staff should have to go through. I can honestly say that that time was one of the hardest times of my life and I would not have made it through if not for the love and support that I received from all of you, and that we all shared with each other. Your love, support and kindness will never be forgotten.

It's easy to say that leaving a job is easy, it's leaving the people that's hard. But in this case, that's not true. I love my job. Where else in the world will I find a place that openly allows me to call upon my creativity at the levels that I do here on a daily basis? I have the great pleasure writing blogs about the topics that I choose and usually, I shamelessly choose things that I love, like my favorite TV shows.  I have the ability to walk into work on a Thursday, and within two hours be planning a full-fledged trip to see the cast of Glee at the mall. (While that one was definitely promotional product related, I will admit that seeing Corey Monteith in person was definitely a "motivating" factor.)

Tweeting has opened up a whole new world to me and it's hard to believe that many of you are reading this because the link was in my 4,000th tweet. A few years ago, I thought Twitter was the most pointless thing in the world. Now I've made so many great friends because of it, and I have the pleasure of tweeting with people in the industry that I never would have met otherwise. Additionally, it's brought great attention to all the blogs with re-tweets. I'll never forget clicking a link from the executive producer of Bones, Hart Hanson only to see that it was one of my blogs.  To know that Twitter has given you all the ability to learn more about this company via my crazy office tweets and to learn more about promotional products makes me so happy it's embarrassing for me. Really, true story.

Considering that Seasons of Love just came on my iPod, I'm going to take that as my cue to wrap this up. I'm not going anywhere for another week, so you'll have to put up with me til then. Even after that, I'll be around. I'm sorry kids, but after 5 years you're not getting rid of me that easily. I'll still pop on Motivators Facebook and for anyone who wants to stay in touch via Twitter, just shoot me a DM and I'll message you my info. So that being said…let the countdown begin! Oh and just know, I love you all like empanadas. Maria Pinto, you especially are a cheesy pocket of goodness.
