This past weekend I was asked to be a tour guide for 3 University students from Ankara University, Turkey who came to the US with a program called "Work and Travel". They have been in California for about 3 months working and having the time of their lives. They wanted to end their trip by coming to NY, to experience the NY life for a few days before they had to go back to Turkey (reality).I met them for the first time on Saturday night and they had a few things on their list they wanted to do. We made plans for the next day and I told them to get a good night's sleep for our fun filled day. We left at about 8 in the morning by LIRR from Babylon to Penn Station. Our first stop was the APPLE store- of course you have to buy an iPhone before you go back! I wanted to make it as memorable as ever, so we went to the apple store in Grand Central. From there we took a stroll on 5th Ave- you can't come to NY and not shop. The afternoon we went downtown to Battery Park and took the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The majority of our day was spent doing this because there were so many other tourists who took advantage of the beautiful weather and the lines were ridiculous. By the end of the tour, we were starving and the girls said they missed Turkish food so much so we went to Turkiss - Turkish fast food restaurant. After we ate, everyone was ready to get home. But one more stop before going home was Times Square at night. The girls had such a great day and learned how to get around with the map I got them at Penn Station that they went back Monday and Tuesday. Today they are heading back to Turkey at 11 pm with Turkish Airlines. I really hope they enjoyed their time
