I was one of the lunatics who woke up at 3:00 a.m. (EST) this morning to be one of the first to order Apple's next generation iPhone.

Here's what happened: I'm still attached to a family plan with AT&T (I know, I'm a baby), so when I attempted to preorder the iPhone 5, it asked me for personal details to verify the account. Unfortunately, the plan is under my stepfather's name and details. Obviously, I do not have his social security number memorized, and I certainly couldn't wake him up at that hour either. I was stuck!
Unable to process my order, Apple "reserved" a phone under my iTunes account. When I woke up for work this morning and had spoken to my stepfather, I went back to Apple.com to finish the transaction. Thankfully the reservation system worked. However, it estimated a shipping date of two weeks from now. What!?
I was under the impression that preordered iPhones would ship next Friday, September 21. But according to Tech Crunch, the iPhone 5 sold out in an unprecedentedly short amount of time -- approximately 60 minutes -- resulting in changed shipping calculations from one to two weeks. To make matters worse, I have no idea when it will actually be delivered. Talk about being left in the dark! (Yes, I realize I'm being slightly dramatic).
Still, in the end, I know it will all be worth it. I can't wait to check out the iPhone 5's new features for myself!
P.S. Anyone in need of a custom imprinted iPhone 4/4S case? In a couple of weeks I'll have a few I can't use anymore ;).
