There are many different ways for an artist to promote his or her new song. But the premiere of Will.i.am's new single "Reach for the Stars" marks a new first.
The Huffington Post reports that The Black Eyed Peas front man's new track is the first ever to be broadcast from another planet.
Earlier this month, NASA's Curiosity successfully landed on Mars. "The song had been uploaded to the rover, which landed near the equator of Mars, and played back – a journey of some 700 million miles," reports the Huffington Post. Students at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) came together to listen. Talk about a stand-out music industry promo item!

The musician, who was present at JPL during the Curiosity's landing, is a supporter of science and math education.
