Would You Buy Your Child a Tablet?

I'm constantly amazed by how quickly children seem to pick up technology. Even my youngest cousin (just two-years-old) knows exactly what he has to do in order to unlock his parents' iPhones and iPads and open up his favorite apps.

But do you really want your kids playing around with your expensive toys? I don't have any youngsters of my own, but I can't imagine I'd be able to keep calm while watching them smudge up my screen. (I'm clearly not ready for parenthood).

Nevertheless, I think Toys R Us is onto something with a kid-friendly tablet due to release this October. According to Yahoo! News, "the 7-inch, multi-touch table will have wi-fi capability, a 4GB flash memory, and will come with 50 free, preinstalled apps aimed at children." Pretty cool, huh?

Best of all, the tablet, which goes by Tabeo, will be available for a somewhat-affordable $149.99! The price is a lot more manageable than the iPad 2, which starts at $399.

Toys R Us' Tabeo will be available beginning on October 21, making it a great fall giveaway for schools.
